DCLP Top 25 Law Firms Dutch Caribbean 2014

The Dutch Caribbean Legal Portal annually composes a ranking of law firms in the Dutch Caribbean, based on the number of lawyers employed by these firms. Tax lawyers, civil law notaries and paralegals are not included.
Interesting conclusion is that four out of the top ten largest law firms have increased in size in 2013.
VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne is the largest firm in the Dutch Caribbean with 35 lawyers.
Number 2 on the list is HBN Law. The firm grew to a number of 30 lawyers, compared to 28 in 2012.
Number 3 in size is Spigt Dutch Caribbean, employing 12 lawyers this year, compared to 14 in the previous year.
Numbers 4 on the list, Soliana Bonapart & Aardenburg and David Kock Legal with 11 lawyers, didn’t show any change in the number of lawyers that the firm employs.
Numbers 5, BZSE and SMS Attorneys at law, both have 9 lawyers, the same as the year before.
New on the list are James Martin & Associates with 6 lawyers, Inderson Attorneys at Law with 4 lawyers and Faarup Figaroa Law Offices with 3 lawyers.
Of the Top 25 law firms, 12 have their main office on Curaçao, 8 on Aruba and 5 on St. Maarten.
At the Joint Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao and St. Maarten and Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba, approximately 350 lawyers are officially registered. Of these lawyers, 185 are working at law firms on Curacao (ca. 53 %). These 185 lawyers are working at circa 85 law firms. In Aruba there are approximately 100 lawyers registered (28 %), in Sint Maarten 60 (17 %) and in Bonaire approximately 11 (3 %).

Lawyer Roeland Zwanikken considers legal action against ABN AMRO Bank

THE HAGUE--Attorney-at-law Roeland Zwanikken at St. Maarten’s BZSE law office is considering legal action against the intention of the Dutch ABN AMRO Bank to close the bank accounts of its clients in the Dutch Caribbean.
