Curacao Legal Portal annually composes a ranking of Curacao based law firms based on the number of lawyers employed on Curacao on 31 March.
Stunning conclusion is that two out of the top five largest law firms decrease [their offices on Curacao] in size. At the same time, only one firm in the top of the ranking is growing significantly.
Incidentally, it is the largest firm on Curacao, VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne, that grows with 15% from 20 to 23 lawyers.
Number 2 on the list is HBN Law with 15 lawyers on Curacao, compared to 16 last year. Number 3 in size is Soliana Bonapart & Aardenburg employing 12 lawyers this year, compared to 13 last year. Spigthoff, number 4 on the list, has 11 lawyers (next to 3 tax lawyers, which are not included on the list) compared to 11 last year. Number 5, SMS Attorneys at Law grew to 9 lawyers, comparded to 7 last year.
New on the list are Certa Legal Attorneys Caribbean, David Kock Legal, FWC Legal and Advocatenkantoor mr A.L. Tjon Kwan Paw, all with 3 lawyers.
Most of the law firms in the top 25 have remained steady in terms of number of lawyers. Five firms show a decline.
At the Joint Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao and St. Maarten and Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba approximately 350 lawyers are officially registered. Of these lawyers, 185 are working at law firms on Curacao (ca. 55 %). These 185 lawyers are working at circa 85 law firms.
