New Domain Name .sx for Sint Maarten

SINT MAARTEN - .SX is the new country code Top Level Domain of the new autonomous country of Sint Maarten. Sint Maarten is the “Dutch Part” of the island of Saint Martin established in 1648. Sint Maarten is one of four constituent territories that are part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Availability

The Internet Assigned Names Authority (IANA) has delegated the .SX country code Top Level Domaihn to SX Registry SA in December 2011 following a decision of the ICANN Board

In order to protect all stakeholders effectively, the registration process will proceed in phases as follows :

i. A Grandather Period to protect Sint Maarten holders of .AN domain names – ongoing until May 2nd 2012.

ii. A Sunrise Period to protect trademark holders – from May 3rd to July 4th 2012.

iii. Local Sint Maarten corporate and personal priority periods – from July 5th to September 4th 2012.

iv. A Landrush Period – from September 5th 2012 to October 4th 2012

v. And the General Availability Period when anyone will be able to register a .SX Domain Name – starting October 5th 2012

Local presence on the island of Sint Maarten is not required.

Nieuwe domeinnaam .sx voor Sint Maarten

Sint Maarten heeft nu een eigen 'country code Top Level Domain': .sx. Momenteel is de zogenaamde ‘Sunrise fase’ op deze domeinnaamextensie van toepassing, en deze duurt nog tot en met 4 juli 2012.

Gedurende deze periode kunnen de eigenaren van merken die geregistreerd zijn vóór 1 maart 2011 zich hiervoor aanmelden. In de periode van 5 juli tot en met 4 september 2012 kunnen uitsluitend de lokaal gevestigde bedrijven en de inwoners van Sint Maarten de .sx-domeinnamen registreren. Vanaf 5 oktober 2012 kan eenieder die dat wil een .sx-domeinnaam bemachtigen.
