More jail time for principal

PHILIPSBURG--C.C.H. (51) appeared in front of the Judge of Instruction in the Courthouse in Philipsburg on Monday morning. He is suspected of sexual misconduct with a minor attending the school in Betty’s Estate of which he is in charge.

The judge extended his detention by eight days after he was arrested on Friday morning.

Prosecutor Ton Maan confirmed that the pre-trial detention had been extended. When asked what charges the suspect would face, Maan said, “The judge only was asked to give a judgment about the legitimacy of the arrest. The judge ruled the arrest was legitimate. The judge will be addressed about the extension of the detention on Friday or perhaps on Monday. At this time I cannot give more details about this case.”

The long-time principal was arrested at his home in Dawn Beach on Friday at approximately 8:05am, as a result of the investigation in which a house search was carried out by the Judge of Instruction, the Prosecutor and investigating officers of the Police Force on September18. Numerous electronic devices were confiscated for further investigation during this search. The suspect was questioned and released the same day.

New evidence of sexual misconduct was discovered during an in-depth investigation of the confiscated items, leaving the Prosecutor no other option than to arrest the suspect.

Anyone who may have information or need any assistance in connection with this case can call the Court of Guardianship’s crisis-line #918 at any time or tel. 542-4110 and 542-4115 during office hours.
