KPMG introduces its new Chairman on Sint Maarten

DAWN BEACH--Audit, tax and advisory firm KPMG introduced its new Chairman during a reception at The Westin St. Maarten Dawn Beach Resort and Spa on Thursday.

New Chairman Lindomar Scoop, who is based in Curaçao, is responsible for KPMG's offices in Cuba and the Dutch Caribbean: St. Maarten, Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao and Suriname. St. Maarten's KPMG office ranks second in the Dutch Caribbean overall.

Thursday's reception was the third in a series of introductory sessions held to introduce Scoop in KPMG's major markets in the Dutch Caribbean. Similar receptions have been held in Curaçao  on April 15 and in Aruba on May 6.

The new chairman, whose appointment became effective in January, said that many changes can be expected.

"I believe in growth and growing ahead, especially with a view to the constitutional changes that are taking place," Scoop said, alluding to his theme "Grow with us."

"I think that we can play an important role, especially in the St. Maarten market."

He said clients could expect KPMG to deliver a quality service under his chairmanship, based on experience in the audit and other services offered by KPMG and its international network in the public and private sectors.

He said KPMG invested in people, who should be seen as added value.

"There will be a lot of changes coming up and as Chairman of KPMG I think that we can play a very important role in the public and private sectors," he added.

Scoop was born in Curaçao and raised in the Netherlands. After his studies there, he worked in Amsterdam before relocating to Curaçao and taking up a job as a supervising senior at KPMG in 1995. He then climbed the ladder to senior manager, after which he moved to Aruba and became KPMG Director in 2002.

Scoop is happy in his current position and is hoping to expand the company in line with his forward-thinking philosophy.
