Lawyers conference on Curacao

Law firm Soliana Bonapart & Aardenburg was pleased with the successful conference for lawyers on Curaçao last weekend, that was held in close cooperation with Globalaw, a worldwide network of 91 independent law firms.

Globalaw is a worldwide network of large and mid-size full-service law firms that provides the clients of its members with an international legal resource. The network currently consists of 91 independentla woffices with 4800 lawyers in 165 cities. The secretariat is located in Brussels.

Soliana Bonapart & Aardenburg is a member of Globalaw since 2006. Lawyers associated with the law firms from the (Latin) American and Caribbean region assemble on an annual basis. This time the conference was held in the Hyatt Regency Curaçao Golf Resort, Spa & Marina in Willemstad. During the conference, attention was paid to amongst others the international financial services sector. Local guest speakers were Etienne Ys, former prime minister and chairman of the Curaçao International Financial Services Association, director Alberto Romero of the Bank of the Netherlands Antilles (BNA), chairman Luis Santine of Dutch Caribbean Securities Exchange, and Senior Tax Manager Bryan Irausquin of Ernst & Young Curaçao.

Lawyer Roeland Zwanikken considers legal action against ABN AMRO Bank

THE HAGUE--Attorney-at-law Roeland Zwanikken at St. Maarten’s BZSE law office is considering legal action against the intention of the Dutch ABN AMRO Bank to close the bank accounts of its clients in the Dutch Caribbean.
