OPENING MODERN LAW FIRM BONAIRE

On December 1 2010 the Lieutenant Governor of Bonaire, Glenn Thodé, officially opened the new office building of law firm VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne in Bonaire.

The growing demand for legal expertise in Bonaire because of inter alia the political reform and the ambition of the largest legal service provider of the region find each other here.

The festive opening attracted many visitors. The Lieutenant Governor performed the official act of the opening by addressing those present. Prominent Bonaire citizens from the business community, politics, and others, congratulated the proud lawyers. There were also guests from Curaçao and the other islands. A DJ provided relaxed jazz and lounge music and the more than 150 guests did not want for anything.

Four of the thirty lawyers of the firm are associated with the Bonaire office. In addition, two persons are employed as supporting staff. Moreover, market and professional knowledge is regularly called in in the form of Flying Lawyers. Lawyers from Curaçao fly to Bonaire to work on complicated cases together there.

It is the third office of the fast-growing law firm that has the ambition to provide legal services on all islands of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Caribbean with local knowledge on an international level. In the near future, VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne will also open an office in St. Maarten.

While the former Netherlands Antilles go their own way, VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne provides the security of a larger connection. The clients of the firm benefit from the fact that knowledge and experience in and from the various islands are shared. Managing partner Frank Kunneman says on this subject: “In recent years, our profession seems to change more than in the over seventy years our office has existed in the region. Our regional and international clients request local knowledge of the people, culture, and ways leading to their goals. Our office believes that only skilled teams of top lawyers with high-quality support and modern technology can provide it. This is our motive for investing and growing.”

The office building in Bonaire, renovated beautifully by principal contractor Silvousa under the direction of “Studio Acht” and building supervision of Taxabon has many contemporary conveniences. Some office units have been rented out to friendly organizations, such as Baker Tilly Bonaire, the “Netherlandsche Bank” with the Bureau Conversion BES, Trustmoore, and others.
