Art auction for charity

Law firm VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne organized an exclusive auction last night of photographic work of the well-known artist Ellen Spijkstra.

The photographs of Spijkstra record the water in the wild of Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao in a remarkable manner. The proceeds of the auction benefit Fundashon Verriet, a foundation for people who are physically and/or mentally impaired.

Fundashon Verriet uses the amount donated for the purchase of special computers. Henk Kamsteeg of Fundashon Verriet: “Our children need much guidance and support to be able to further develop cognitively – mentally. Computers with special operation equipment and adjusted software can significantly contribute to it. But we do not have them as yet. With the proceeds of this auction, we are suddenly closer to our object.” Frank Kunneman, managing partner of the law firm at Julianaplein: “The work of Ellen Spijkstra has already decorated the walls of our offices for several weeks and can be admired on the calendar we send to relations this year. We are happy that this auction has yielded such a nice amount for an important charity.”

Spijkstra is ceramic artist and photographer. For more than thirty years she has been inspired by materials, shapes, and the natural surroundings in the Caribbean. She says herself: “The auction of VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne is a wonderful initiative that I gladly contribute to with my work.”

VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne is a law firm with offices in Curaçao, Aruba, and Bonaire. The firm provides legal services to companies and authorities, both in case of disputes and transactions. VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne is, in its own words, “market leader in legal services”. The firm is involved in almost all local, intra-insular, and international takeovers and financing. More than 30 lawyers are employed there.

Law firm VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne organized an auction of the remarkable work of artist Ellen Spijkstra on 11 February 2011 between 8 and 10:30 p.m. The proceeds of the auction will go to disabled children of “Fundashon Verriet”. In the photograph, from left to right, are auctioneer Anthony da Costa Gomez, Ellen Spijkstra, Henk Kamsteeg of Fundashon Verriet, and Frank Kunneman, partner at law firm VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne.
