Head of Register of Population consults lawyer

Harold Daal, head of the Register of Population seems to be next in line to be brushed aside by the current government.

Carlos Monk (PS), Minister of Administration, Planning and Service Provision, announced via the media yesterday that Daal will remain in function but will be deployed for a longer period for a special project to complete registration of data by the various government entities.

Today Daal did not wish to comment to the Amigoe on the Minister’s statements as regards contents. He said he took note of the Minister’s announcement and that he is considering this. In due time, he will comment. Before the microphones of Radio Z-86 today, Daal said he is seeking judicial advice. He will also ask trade union Abvo to study this matter.

He says he is still head of the Register of Population. However, information available to the Amigoe reveals Daal already handed in the keys of his service car and removed all of his personal belongings from his desk. He did not show up at the office today but reported sick. Daal has contacted his lawyer Roy Botse to study the case.

Daal is not the only head of service in such a situation. A group of dissatisfied managerial officials considers summoning the government because they were not appointed as executive in the civil service apparatus of the country Curaçao. It regards officials, who applied for positions in the new apparatus, passed the assessments and were recommended and yet not appointed by the government. These officials now consider a trial and have meanwhile contacted a lawyer. Amongst others, Oswald Dalnoot, head of the Department Labor and Income (DWI) and interim head of the fire brigade corps Edmiro Anita belong to this group.

Alex Rosaria, leader of political party Pais recently criticized the government’s procedure whereby heads of service are systematically brushed aside, according to him. They go the office but they’ve nothing to do. Not only is this counterproductive, but it also costs considerable public funds, according to Rosaria.
