Marketing study for offshore sector

Secretary of State Alex Rosaria (Finance, PNP) starts next week with a study for a marketing approach for the international financial service sector (offshore) of the Antilles. Also the local image of this sector will come up for discussion during this study. The study is coordinated by the Social Economic Faculty of the UNA and will be published early next year.

“Considering our objective to put our country in the world’s top-10 offshore locations, marketing this sector is extremely important,” says Rosaria, who wants to see many more actions taken by the government as well as by the sector itself and thus give this product greater international publicity. “In this competitive world, you should not only distinguish yourself from others, but you should also make yourself known and show what you have to offer. The ideal situation would be that when people hear the name Curacao, they would immediately connect it to a financial hub for Latin-America with competent people, multi-lingual, and affinity with different cultures", says Rosaria.

He also wants more publicity for this sector locally. Everybody must be explained why this sector is so important for our country. People do not always realize that this sector offers jobs to our people on all levels and with that, contributes to the well-being of all of us”, is Rosaria’s argument.

Rosaria hopes that businesses in this sector will devote themselves to activities in the local society. Some companies already show their good corporate citizenship with a number of commendable projects, like Amicorp that offers space to 25 underprivileged children in a child care center free of charge. I applaud that! Another office sponsors a sport club.”

Rosaria is pleased with companies that already are socially involved in the local society. He understands that these companies do not give publicity to their actions, but he doesn’t agree with that one aspect. “It doesn’t hurt to give publicity to things you do for the community. This promotes this sector’s usefulness for the community.”

"The companies that are still not involved in good corporate citizenship, I recommend they start doing that soon", says Rosaria.
