Thirteen police officers take the oath

Besides the ceremony of thirteen police officers taking the oath, the new coats of arms with logo was unveiled at the main police station in Rio Canario.

The cloth falling on top of the Minister of Justice Elmer Wilsoe (PS) had caused some amusement, but luckily Wilsoe was also amused by it.

The ceremony took place at the Police Center Rio Canario on Winston Churchillweg. The thirteen new officers of the Police Corps Curaçao marched nicely in order. Two members of the VGPANA (Association Retired Police Officials Netherlands Antilles) unveiled the new coat of arms – with the words Police Corps Curaçao, Sirbi i Protehá – attached to the wall above the main entrance, thereby replacing the former words ‘Netherlands Antilles’ with ‘Curaçao’.

The thirteen officers, who had recently completed their training, took the oath before the Minister of Justice. In his short speech, Wilsoe emphasized that the young police officers are there to serve and protect their country and to remain honorable.

Interim corps chief Marlon Wernet expressed his satisfaction with the thirteen new officers and emphasized the connection between the logo on their uniform and serving the community.

The police officers that were sworn in are: Ruvienne Sillie (most successful candidate), Jarin Parisius, Giovanni Adamus, Yu-Maiklin Bonevacia, Denise Cicilia, Shurlaika Dorand, George El-Ossaïs, Elveny Halmeyer, Zeno Inecia, Dionys Inees, Mariens Mariano, Reuel Privania and Dieorge Roach.
