New Correctional Institution Dutch Caribbean, location Bonaire

BONAIRE - Yesterday, Tuesday, June 19th at 2 PM the construction board of the new correctional institution is revealed at Plantage Aruba. This official act was executed by the island governor of Bonaire, mrs. dr. Lydia Emerencia.

 
The placing of this construction board marks a new phase in the development of the building process. After passing the deed of leasehold of the ground, intensive attention can be paid to the preliminary design of the building. The preliminary design is expected to be ready in November, than it can also be presented. The new correctional institution will have a capacity op 94 cells. Those have space for men, women and juveniles. According to the planning the new building will be ready be ready medio 2015.
 
Correctional Institution Dutch Carribean, Location Bonaire (JICN) makes on behalf of the Minister of Justice for the export of penalties and custodial measures, after the verdict of a judge imposed.
 
Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius
On Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba DJI is working on different things. The current House of Detention on Bonaire is restored (by international standards) and expanded from 26 seats to 48 seats. Further temporary extension is still waiting for 48 places to 76 places. The expansion of capacity by the new building at Plantage Aruba also includes an expansion of staff. There are already extra security guards hired locally and in the near future there will be more locally recruited staff. In addition, existing staff is trained and internships are followed in training establishments in the Netherlands. The construction of a multifunctional and flexible device on St. Eustatius with 30 places of detention is scheduled over two / three years.
