Cft changes its media policy

Philipsburg – One of the core values of the Board of Financial supervision Curaçao and Sint Maarten (College financieel toezicht - Cft) is transparency. One essential aspect of good governance is that information should be available to the public, which enhances the possibility to carry out control on government.

Based on this core value and within the procedural framework of the Kingdom Act financial supervision on Curaçao and Sint Maarten, Cft carries out its media policy. In the Act it is established that the advices are made public the moment the budgets and reports are sent to Parliament, and herewith start forming part of the public debate of the people’s representatives of the countries and public entities.

Recently Cft has evaluated its media policy and noted that regularly the public debate is opened before the respective documents have been made public. Sometimes the documents are not made public at all. This can cause confusion and is not transparent. Cft therefore has decided to change its publicity procedure in the sense that as of now, all its advices and reports will be made public on its website three weeks after they are issued.
