12 new creditors demand bankruptcy of Van Assendelft van Wijck

WILLEMSTAD — Twelve new creditors, two from the Netherlands and ten from Belgium, approached the Court in First Instance on Curaçao to declare project developer Christiaan van Assendelft van Wijck from the mega project Ocean Front Islands Boulevard and Kiki Beach, bankrupt.

This is the second group of creditors that requests the Court to issue an adjudication order because Van Assendelft van Wijck ‘stopped making payments’.The first case of in total nine creditors from Curaçao, the Netherlands and Belgium with a claim of more than 2.5 million guilders was recently discussed behind closed doors. The judge dismissed this case because Van Assendelft van Wijck successfully proved he made payments.

The new group, consisting of the following companies and persons, has submitted a claim of approximately 115,000 euros in total: Scheepswerf A. Van Dam & Zoon BV with a claim of 50.197 euros (Netherlands), Booij Makelaardij O.Z. BV (Netherlands), ETACC BVBA with a claim of 11,858 euros (Belgium), BVBA Jacobs with a claim of 20,000 euros (Belgium), Crownoakeurope NV with a claim of 17,000 euros (Belgium), Vlaamse Belastingdienst OV with a claim of 2876 euros (Belgium), Iveka with a claim of 3017 euros (Belgium), Telenet NV/SA with a claim of 2061 euros (Belgium), Electrabel Customer Solutions NV with a claim of 5516 euros (Belgium), Pidpa Provenciale and Intercommunale Drinkwatermaatschappij Antwerp with a claim of 1623 euros (Belgium), Mercator Verzekeringen NV with a claim of 2377 euros (Belgium) and the General Hospital Sint Jozef with a claim of 468 euros (Belgium).

The creditors stated they are aware there are more creditors, including a restaurant/hotel and a safe shop in Belgium who by order of Van Assendelft van Wijck had performed work and services without having received payment. They also said they heard ‘that on Curaçao both Aqualectra and the Tax Department’ have claims. The creditors added an overview to their request, namely of attachments and orders to pay to the account of Van Assendelft van Wijck on his real estate in Schilde, Belgium.
