Cupecoy murder suspect before judge today

PHILIPSBURG--M.K.J. (28), the suspect in the murders of Michael and Thelma King, is scheduled to be taken before Judge C.T.M. Luijks today, Wednesday, September 25, a press release from Chief Prosecutor Hans Mos said Tuesday.

The prosecutor prolonged the first two-day term of custody on Tuesday, September 24, by another eight days. During the suspect's arraignment, the judge will check the lawfulness of the arrest and the prolongation of the custody, the press release said.
 
The prosecution discussed the preliminary results of the autopsy with family members. In the interest of the investigation no details can be divulged on the outcome of the autopsy or the conversation with the family, the release stated.
 
The forensic material that was secured on different locations was discussed by prosecutors, the Forensic Department and a representative of Dutch Forensic Institute NFI on Tuesday, September 24. The selected items will undergo forensic research at NFI to establish whether relevant evidence or leads have been detected.
 
Police have been questioning several witnesses and M.K.J. was interrogated further, but on advice of counsel chose not to speak at this point, the press release said.
 
The bodies of Michael and Thelma King were released to their family members on Tuesday. The Kings' lifeless bodies were found in their beachfront condominium in Cupecoy on Friday morning, September 21. M.K.J. was arrested as a suspect in the case in Cay Bay early Sunday morning.
