Militair op Aruba gewond door kogel

ORANJESTAD - Een Nederlandse militair van de marine is tijdens een oefening op Aruba gewond geraakt door een kogel, meldt een woordvoerder van de Koninklijke Marine.
Lokale media berichten dat hij per ongeluk is neergeschoten door een collega.
De militair raakte zwaargewond, maar "zijn toestand is stabiel". De marine zegt dat hij nooit in levensgevaar is geweest.
Het incident gebeurde op het marine-oefenterrein 'Vader Piet'. De marechaussee onderzoekt de zaak. Verdere details over het schietincident zijn niet bekendgemaakt.

BES-EILANDEN - De situatie waarin kinderen in het Caribische deel van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden opgroeien, voldoet niet aan het VN-Verdrag voor de rechten van het kind. Dat geldt ook voor de leefomstandigheden van kinderen op Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba, die sinds 2010 onder Nederlands bestuur vallen.
