Jardim and Tuitt want advice from ‘third party

WILLEMSTAD — Outgoing interim-minister of Finance, José Jardim and his colleague from St. Maarten, Roland Tuitt, want advice from a ‘third party’ on the intended operational audit into the Central Bank of Curaçao and St. Maarten (CBCS).

This is mentioned in an agreement that both ministers signed on Friday morning.

In this agreement the two ministers state they absolutely want an operational audit but first want to request advice from a ‘third party’ on the exact scope and depth of such audit. They also want this third party to recommend bureaus that could conduct the audit. Minister Jardim was reticent in this stage about the precise contents of the agreement and this external party. According to him, the Board of Commissioners of the Central Bank must be informed first on where the two capital-authorized parties of the Central Bank, the countries Curaçao and St. Maarten, stand exactly. Aforementioned agreement will be discussed in the second week of November during a meeting with the Board of Commissioners. A press report on the agreement will be issued within short.
