Governing Body (BC) must bend to Knip option

The Governing body has to give it’s opinion about the option which has currently been taken by the foundation Stichting Particulier Fonds Cori about a piece of property at Grote Knip. That is what the judge found yesterday after handling the case which developer Randy Neuman brought on against the island territory.

Since 2003, Neuman has been after that piece of land, to which an option was given to the established foundation Cori in 2006. The BC must now decide whether it will prolong the option or whether to give the option to Neuman. The all inclusive hotel chain Barcelo would want to exploit it. If that is the case, then Neuman and the island territory have to discuss the option conditions. If the BC sticks with Cori, then the parties will meet again at the beginning of January.

According to Neuman’s lawyer, Bertie Braam, there are no other interested parties for the piece of property. Last month, Braam won another case for his client in which evidence had to be discussed as to why the BC had given the option of the piece of property to the foundation. It is still unclear who is behind the foundation Stichting Particulier Fonds Cori. According to the Chamber of Commerce the foundation has Rooi Catootje Management as its board. Lawyer Ruben Diaz at the Kaya Flamboyan 14 is registered as the managing director of Rooi Catootje Management. Should the BC decide that the option for the piece of property at Knip stays with SPF Cori, then he will definitely dig deeper, says Braam.
