Fiscal deal with Jamaica

The Netherlands Antilles continue their course for entering treaties with well-chosen countries to prevent double taxation. Especially the Caribbean region receives great attention.  State secretary Alex Rosaria (Finance, PNP) emphasizes that the Antilles are in the first place Caribbean and must optimally cooperate with Caribbean nations for their (financial-social) survival.

Countries all over the world are working together in various fields with especially their neighbours.  The Antilles can no longer ignore the Caribbean region.  Rosaria is pleased that a delegation from Jamaica arrives in Curacao next week to negotiate a Double Taxation Agreement (DTA).  They will probably stay 3 to 4 days on the island.  Such treaty promotes mutual trade and investments, because the cost prices are ultimately kept down.

“We will continue dedicating ourselves aggressively for these agreements on behalf of our local economy.  Similar agreements must be entered with Spain and Isle de Man in the first four months of this year.  Enlarging our fiscal treaty network is good business”, says Rosaria.  As cultural-conscious as Rosaria works, he will also make sure that there will be a social-cultural program for the visiting Jamaicans, so that they receive the essence of the Antillean culinary and musical traditions.
