NOTED INTERNATIONAL AUTHOR, SPEAKER AND HARVARD PROFESSOR NIALL FERGUSON TO HEADLINE STEP CURACAO CONFERENCE 2015

TORONTO, ONTARIO, January 15, 2015 – Bas Horsten, Chair of the STEP Curacao 2015 Conference announced today the signing of Niall Ferguson as the inaugural conferences keynote speaker.

“We are thrilled to be bringing Ferguson to Curacao to kick off our inaugural conference”, commented Horsten,  “Our objective with the conference to not only showcase Curacao as a pre-imminent, mid shore jurisdiction, but also to gather the world’s best minds together for an exchange of ideas, knowledge and macro trends.”

Our theme, “Curacao … The New MidShore Reality”, is really a comment on the future of off-shore and international financial centers and it’s one that we feel is not only relevant to Latin American HNW clients but also for any client that is looking for a balance between transparency and confidentiality”, he commented.

A partnership between STEP Curacao, CIFC and CIFA, the conference will mark a return to the international stage for Curacao and also highlight the versatility of the jurisdiction, not just in the financial services sector, but for any professional interested in a broader wealth structuring space.

“Our goal is to spark a dialogue between trust and estate, financial services and wealth structuring professionals around best practices, global trends and to provide thought provoking solutions to old and new issues facing these professionals. The STEP brand is a global brand
synonymous with best in class thinking and a solution oriented approach to professional development”, Horsten also commented.

STEP Curacao 2015 Keynote speaker Niall Ferguson, MA, D.Phil., is Laurence A. Tisch Professor of History at Harvard University. He is also a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University, and a Senior Research Fellow at Jesus College, Oxford. His full biography follows.

STEP Curacao Conference 2015 Keynote Speaker Niall Ferguson will speak on the following:
"Globalization and Regulation after the Financial Crisis"

International Financial Centers are taking major strategic decisions on how to position themselves in a world that has been radically changed by the financial crisis and its aftermath. In addition to huge macroeconomic shifts, there have been significant changes in the fields of regulation, transparency, compliance, and tax. Learn from one of the world's top historians how economic globalization, the interface between finance and politics, and the changing roles of world powers are shaping the
environment in which our sector operates.

The STEP Curacao Conference 2015 will be of great interest to wealth management and financial services professionals interested in networking, new business development and leading edge products and services. Curacao is exceptionally well positioned for Latin American HNW families.
