New Board Bar Association

In the Annual Meeting of the Curacao Bar Association Mr Cindy de la Fuente (lawyer at HBN Law) has been elected as secretary. She is the successor of Mr Daniel Zahavi, who was a board member for five years.

Mr Eric Bokkes (Bokkes Fontein Attorneys at Law) and mr Chester Peterson (Sulvaran & Peterson) have been re-elected as board members: Peterson as Vice-Dean of the Bar Association and Bokkes as treasurer. The position of Dean van Deken is occupied by mr Karel Frielink.

The Annual Meeting of the Bar Association took place on wednesday 2 December 2009.

Goal of the Association:

The Bar Association is a professional association of which attorneys-at-law can become a member. The Association looks after the interests of attorneys, strives after a better functioning of the judicial system and wants to emphasize through information the importance of the law in a parlementary democracy.

THE HAGUE--Attorney-at-law Roeland Zwanikken at St. Maarten’s BZSE law office is considering legal action against the intention of the Dutch ABN AMRO Bank to close the bank accounts of its clients in the Dutch Caribbean.
