Frielink new Honorary Consul of Germany

Attorney at law Karel Frielink is the new Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany for Curaçao, St. Maarten, Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba.

He is the successor of Mr. Bastiaan Kooyman.

Karel Frielink has the Dutch nationality and is currently living in Curacao. He is an attorney at law and partner at Spigthoff Attorneys & Tax Advisers and belongs to both the Amsterdam Bar (the Netherlands) and the Dutch Caribbean Bar.

He graduated from the VU University (Amsterdam) in 1989 in both civil law and notarial law and is an attorney as from 1989. His specialties are Commercial Law, Corporate Law, Banking & Securities (hedge funds, investment funds, securitizations), E-Commerce, Litigation & Legal Opinions.

Frielink is President of the Curacao Bar Association since December 2008, and Board Member at the Foundation Youth Into Media.

In the past he was Member of the Board of Directors at the Curacao Chamber of Commerce, Lecturer on Corporate Law at the University of Curacao and Board Member at the Supervisory Board for Fiduciary Business Netherlands Antilles.

Karel Frielink is an experienced lecturer and provider of commentaries on corporate and securities case law developments. He frequently writes about Dutch and Dutch Caribbean law and is the author of the leading legal text book on Dutch Caribbean (including Aruba) corporate law (2nd edition 2006; 340 pages).
