VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne Strengthens Real Estate Practice with new lawyer Tom Peeters

WILLEMSTAD – The sector group Real Estate & Project Development will be more strongly anchored in the Caribbean law firm of VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne, as per August 1 real estate lawyer Tom Peeters will strengthen the team.

Tom will be based in Bonaire.

With Tom’s arrival, an experienced and specialized real estate lawyer is added to the practice group of the law firm. Tom was involved in real estate projects such as the development of power plants, the construction of petrochemical facilities, water management projects, area development projects, and sustainable (wind) energy projects regularly. In addition, Tom regularly litigates in construction law cases and in disputes on spatial planning and the environment. Tom is a targeted litigator, who also often acts in appeal cases. After completing his studies as a cassation lawyer at the end of 2013, Tom will also be able to represent clients in cassation cases.

Tom used to work with international law firms and was director of a legal consultancy firm. In that role, he was involved in various real estate projects in the Netherlands in an early stage, but also in Curaçao, Statia and Bonaire.

Tom Peeters: “The legal profession “new style” to me means that as a lawyer, you are involved in a plan, project, or initiative in an early stage. This allows determining the strategy together with the client and identifying all stakeholders and interests, so that risks are recognized and controlled in an early stage. This is much more effective and often more cost-efficient than “cleaning up the mess” afterwards. Clear and usable advice and a good eye for the legal and practical (im)possibilities are a part of this role as a lawyer.”

VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne is a full-service law firm in the Caribbean and expands its real estate expertise in order to meet the growing demand from this sector for high-level legal advice.
