New lawyer at SMS Attorneys at Law

WILLEMSTAD - As of 6 October SMS Attorneys at Law has a new laywer, Marie-José Eisden. Marie-José specializes in Criminal law and with her the total of lawyers of SMS Attorneys comes at 10.

Marie-José Eisden has studied Dutch law at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam and majored in Private Law in 2006. After a student internship at “Bousie lawyers” in Amsterdam, a law firm specialized in the Media- and Entertainment law and communication niche, she worked as a lawyer at the television production company “Endemol Netherlands” in Aalsmeer in the Department of Licensing on an IP-clearance project. In August 2007 Marie-José Eisden joined the “BREIN Foundation” (Protection Rights Entertainment Industry Netherlands) as a lawyer, focusing particularly on preparing and supervising civil proceedings in the field of intellectual property fraud and enforcing copyright entertainment content and related rights.

In 2010 Marie-José has been sworn in as an attorney at law by the Joint Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Saint Eustatius and Saba and has since built a solid expertise in both criminal law practice and general law practice.

Her focal subjects are the general law of obligations, liability arising from a wrongful act, family law, intellectual property, and criminal law. Besides her work in the legal profession Marie-Jose is also a committee member of the Committee for Criminal lawyers and she represents the interests of criminal lawyers employed in Curaçao on behalf of the Curaçao Bar Association.

Op maandag 6 oktober 2014 is mr Marie-José Eisden in dienst getreden bij SMS Attorneys at Law. De op Curaçao geboren en deels in Nederland getogen Eisden is in 2006 afgestudeerd aan de Vrije Universiteit van Amsterdam. Voorafgaand aan haar indiensttreding bij SMS Attorneys at Law is Eisden enkele jaren als bedrijfsjurist werkzaam geweest bij Nederlands grootste televisieproductiebedrijf Endemol in Aalsmeer en voorts bij Stichting BREIN alwaar zij zich namens auteurs, uitvoerende kunstenaars, uitgevers, productenten en distributeurs van muziek, film, boeken, games en interactieve software toelegde op de juridische aspecten van de bestrijding van intellectuele eigendomsfraude.
 
Eisden is in 2010 door het Gemeenschappelijk Hof van Justitie tot advocaat beëdigd en heeft sindsdien een gedegen expertise opgebouwd in zowel de strafrechtelijke als de algemene rechtspraktijk. Eisden beschikt tevens over ruime advies- en proceservaring en zal een belangrijke aanwinst zijn voor SMS Attorneys at Law.
