Versatile junior lawyer VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne sworn in

VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne expands its team with an additional junior associate. Raoul Profijt was recently sworn in by the Common Court of Justice of Curacao, Aruba and St. Maarten, and of Bonaire, Statia, and Saba.

In 2014, Raoul finished his second Master’s and in September of the same year he joined the Curacao office of VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne.

At the University of Amsterdam, Raoul received his Bachelor’s degree Fiscal Law and his Master’s degree in Private-Law Legal Practice and Constitutional Law and Administrative Law. During his studies, he interned at the Dutch Foreign Ministry, De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek and a local law firm in Curacao. During his traineeship in Curacao, Raoul realized that he felt more at home in the Caribbean than in the Netherlands, which is why he decided to pack his bags and move to Curacao after he graduated. Raoul applied as a result of the campaign “Advocaat in de Cariben” (Lawyer in the Caribbean) and was selected from over 20 participants in the recruitment campaign, together with Brian Zending and Tessa Breugom.

At VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne, Raoul has started his career in the Litigation & Commercial section. His ambition lies in the field of litigation, which was also his motivation to enroll in law school.
Raoul is also part of the Surinam desk of the firm, which serves the Surinam market in cooperation with a local law firm.

Raoul says: “Being sworn in is something you look forward to for a long time, but in hindsight it is over in a second. Although I already worked with VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne before being sworn in, I am now allowed to officially work as a lawyer and argue cases before the Court. I was recently allowed to plead before the Court myself, and it was a positive experience! My ambition is to develop into a seasoned litigator in the years to come.”
