Lecture at the International Convention of the Ombudsman

On 15 June 2011, George Driessen, lawyer at VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne, gave a lecture at the International Convention of the Ombudsman, held in Curaçao.

The subject of his lecture was “Whistleblowing vs the duty of confidentiality within the administration”. In his lecture, George discussed the legal framework of and conflict between – on the one hand – whistleblowing by civil servants who have a reasonable suspicion of misconduct being performed or tolerated within their administration and – on the other hand – their statutory and contractual  duty of confidentiality. In view hereof, George provided a number of recommendations on how to deal with this kind of conflict

DUTCH CARIBBEAN - The Dutch Caribbean islands Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao will require Venezuelans to obtain a visa to visit. This was stated by the government on Wednesday, adding to the nations that have tightened entry restrictions on the crisis-hit country because of mass emigration.
