Curacao Legal Portal annually composes a ranking of Curacao based law firms based on the number of lawyers employed on Curacao. Stunning conclusion is that two out of the top five largest law firms decrease in size (on Curacao). At the same time, only one firm in the top of the ranking is growing significantly.

The advocate (attorney; lawyer) as orator is a sensitive subject. Many clients will have listened with curled toes or alternatively with a deep feeling of embarrassment to their own advocate or (if they are lucky) to that of their counterparty at the moment suprême when the so-carefully prepared written summary of the argument is read out dryly and stumbling over the words or at least in a scarcely inspiring manner.

Budget in compliance with rules expected by April 15

PHILIPSBURG--Government has "more or less assured" Dutch Minister for Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations Piet Hein Donner that the island will have a 2011 budget that complies with especially the Kingdom Law on Financial Supervision for Curaçao and St. Maarten by April 15, when the next Kingdom Council of Ministers meeting is scheduled, Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams said at a press conference on Monday.
