3 Cupecoy case suspects to appear in Court 22 January

PHILIPSBURG -- Cupecoy murder case suspects J.J.W. (20), J.C.M. (17) and M.K.J. (28) will appear in court for a procedural session on Tuesday 22 January, a press release from Chief Prosecutor Hans Mos stated. The case itself will not be dealt with during this session.

Both the defence and prosecutor will be allowed during the hearing to request additional investigations on their behalf. The Prosecutor's Office has requested a psychiatric and psychological report on each suspect, but these will not be completed by 22 January.

"Most likely the case will be postponed until March or later, depending on how many requests for additional investigation will be granted," the press release stated. The judge will make those final decisions.

M.K.J. will have to appear in court for the first time at 11:00am on 17 January. This hearing will be postponed until January 22, when the procedural court session will be held, the press release concluded.

The three suspects were arrested for the murder of American couple Michael and Thelma King, who were found murdered in their beachfront condominium on Friday 21 September 2012.
