PHILIPSBURG - As requested by the Public Prosecution Office Sint Maarten, the court on Wednesday, June 5th, 2019, sentenced the main suspect in the MARS investigation K.F. to life in prison for manslaughter and murder.

WILLEMSTAD - Vanaf 1 mei 2019 treedt de richtlijn strafvordering voor mensensmokkel en mensenhandel in werking. Deze richtlijn is een voorschrift voor het Openbaar Ministerie voor de strafeisen bij de gevallen van mensensmokkel en mensenhandel.

WILLEMSTAD - In het kader van onderzoek ‘Hercules’ is op 13 mei 2019 door opsporingsambtenaren van Team Bestrijding Ondermijning (TBO) in opdracht van het Openbaar Ministerie de man R.R. L. (57 jaar oud) aangehouden.

PHILIPSBURG - Suspects in the MARS investigation, K.S. and T.F., were tried in court today. They are being held responsible for the murder of two young men Sarante Diaz and Rosario Contreras on December 5th, 2016. Their bodies were discovered in the Belair lagoon on August 1st, 2017.

PHIILIPSBURG - Today the examining judge decided that the pre-trial detention of Theo Heyliger will be extended by 30 days. The case against Heyliger and three of his co-suspects will be treated in public on May 27 2019 for the first time. That will happen in the Courthouse in Sint Maarten.

WILLEMSTAD - The Court of First Instance ruled on Friday 26 April that the suspect George Jamaloodin remains in custody. Unlike the defense, the Court of First Instance considers that there is a fair trial, which also pays sufficient attention to exculpatory facts and circumstances.

WILLEMSTAD - Het Openbaar Ministerie (OM) heeft deze maand een aangifte ontvangen van de Financial Intelligence Unit Curaçao (FIU, voorheen MOT). De FIU doet, naar aanleiding van een pilot project, aangifte tegen 44 makelaars en autohandelaren die niet geregistreerd staan bij de FIU.
