Agreement signed between NuStar and Statia Government

EUSTATIUS--Despite the instruction of Dutch Government’s Representative in the Caribbean Gilbert Isabella to Island Governor of St. Eustatius Julian Woodley not to sign the Executive Council’s decision to approve the agreement with NuStar, and the request filed by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations to ask the State Attorney of the Netherlands to provide and advice on the matter, the Executive Council and NuStar signed the agreement on Friday.

EUSTATIUS--Commissioner Charles Woodley announced late on Thursday that, on the instruction of the Kingdom Representative Gilbert Isabella, Governor Julian Woodley refused to sign the decision by the Executive Council to approve the agreement with NuStar, as well as the agreement itself, without any explanation.

Budget Marine robbers face serious prison time

PHILIPSBURG--Three men suspected of involvement in an armed robbery at Budget Marine on October 19, 2016, had their day in court on Thursday. K.R. (24), C.C. (22) and Y.J. (21) were said to have planned the robbery, according to the Prosecutor in the opening statements during the trial.

Casa Blanca trial scheduled for March 14

Staat Suriname tekent beroep aan tegen vonnis in zaak Yvanne Hilton

PARAMARIBO - De staat Suriname heeft toch hoger beroep aangetekend tegen het vonnis van de Kantonrechter in de zaak van Yvanna Hilton, die via de rechtszaal wist af te dwingen, dat het Centraal Bureau voor Burgerzaken (CBB) in haar administratie het geslacht van Hilton moet veranderen van 'man' in 'vrouw'.
