Seizure of 588 kilos of cocaine from yacht

MARIGOT - A Customs vessel from St. Martin was one of two vessels along with a helicopter that took part in an operation last week Wednesday leading to a seizure of 588 kilos of cocaine from a sailing yacht, the Customs office in St. Martin disclosed.

LEIDSCHENDAM--Former Dutch Minister of Antillean and Aruban Affairs for the Christian Democratic Party CDA Professor Ernst Hirsch Ballin made a case on Tuesday for the introduction of a Kingdom Parliament in which the Dutch Caribbean countries are duly represented, as well as a Dispute Regulation (“geschillenregeling”).

‘Nederlandse’ webshops gevestigd op Curaçao kunnen in Nederland failliet gaan

Onlangs was de vordering van een Nederlandse leverancier van een ‘buitenlandse’ exploitant van een drietal webshops flink opgelopen. Aanmaningen hadden niet geholpen en de druk werd verhoogd door het faillissement van de exploitant van de webshops aan te vragen.

Limits to be set for all-inclusive hotels Aruba

ORANJESTAD - The Government of Aruba has submitted a law proposal to Parliament stating that a maximum forty per cent of the island’s hotels may be fully all-inclusive, while properties selling part of their inventory as such are limited to only twenty per cent of the total number of rooms.

CAft: Schuldquote Aruba 2015 onder de 80 procent

ORANJESTAD — De schuldquote van Aruba is gedaald van 81,4 procent van het bruto binnenlands product (bbp) naar 79,5 procent bbp eind 2015. Dat blijkt uit de publicatie van de eerste halfjaarrapportage van het College Aruba financieel toezicht (CAft) vandaag.

Prosecution appeals in Menam case

Tankers backed up at Bullenbaai

WILLEMSTAD--Three tankers were waiting to discharge some 1.65 million barrels of US crude at the Curaçao Oil Terminal (COT) at the end of last week, soon to be joined by another 1.1 million barrels underway, as Venezuelan PdVSA's port delays worsen due to growing imports, according to Thomson Reuters data.
