WILLEMSTAD - W.F.S. (53) is maandag bij verstek door de rechter veroordeeld voor het plaatsen van een valse bommelding op 1 mei 2013 om 21.13 uur tijdens de Sami Sail in Boka Sami. De veroordeling was conform de eis van de Officier van Justitie (OvJ) van het Openbaar Ministerie (OM).

WILLEMSTAD – De Europese Investeringsbank (EIB) betuigt met een ‘Letter of support’ steun aan de plannen van stichting GreenTown. Dat meldt GreenTown. De stichting wil het Isla-terrein wil herontwikkelen als de beheersovereenkomst met de Venezolaanse oliemaatschappij PDVSA afloopt.

ORANJESTAD - Het parlement heeft unaniem gestemd voor de verhoging van de reparatietoeslag. Dat betekent dat mensen met inkomens tot 2500 florin per maand en gepensioneerden met een lage uitkering, erop vooruit gaan. De regering wil de koopkracht van deze groepen verbeteren.

Constitutional Court to present ruling today

PHILIPSBURG--The Constitutional Court of St. Maarten will present its decision in the case filed by Ombudsman Nilda Arduin to declare six articles in the new Penal Code null and void today, Thursday, at 1:30pm. The case was filed by the Ombudsman in January because she considers the articles to be in violation with the Constitution.

Those house searches , led by the judge of instruction and the public prosecutor, had place in a (international) drugs investigation, an investigation by the Recherche Samenwerkingsteam (RST).
