Saba has received 3 million euro’s from European Union

The European Union (EU) has made 86 million euros available for the Dutch Caribbean over the past twelve years, Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs Frans Timmermans informed the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament on Monday.

Judge Wefers Bettink sworn in

Judge Paul Wefers Bettink has been sworn in as a member of the Joint Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten and Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba. Bettink will be working as a judge on Bonaire.

Plasterk confirmed: No final status public entities in Constitution

THE HAGUE--The change to the Dutch Constitution doesn't force Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba in a corner in their choice for a definite constitutional model, confirmed Dutch Minister of Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations Ronald Plasterk in a document that he sent to the First Chamber of the Dutch Parliament, the Senate, on Tuesday.

Korpodeko’s shares in InselAir converted into loan

WILLEMSTAD — Korpodeko is a shareholder of InselAir (20 percent) but this is a temporary construction. The shares will soon be converted into a ‘subordinated loan’. InselAir-director Albert Kluyver stated this after an anonymous source sent a document, which named the exact shareholders of InselAir, to the press.

St. James School of Medicine does not meet requirements

Power of Minister not unlimited

WILLEMSTAD--The power of a minister over government foundations is not unlimited, according to an advice from Curaçao’s Advisory Council to government. The latter can give instructions, but the institutions are not obligated to follow these if in conflict with their best interest.

Sarah: St. Maarten not levying indirect taxes on Saba, Statia

PHILIPSBURG--St. Maarten is not levying indirect taxes on goods to Saba and St. Eustatius; it is the Dutch Government that decided to levy the same taxes as in The Netherlands on the islands, including a General Revenue Tax.

Civil inquiry into energy companies
