Police ‘moving in right direction’ says Council on Law Enforcement

PHILIPSBURG--The Police Force is "moving in the right direction" and has achieved much since the transition period made necessary when St. Maarten became a country, according to a recent report from the Council on Law Enforcement. The council presented the report to new Justice Minister Dennis Richardson on Monday.

WILLEMSTAD - 145 Gedetineerden in de strafgevangenis Sentro di Detenshon i Korekshon Kòrsou (SDDK), hebben via hun advocaat Everett Wilsoe vrijdag een brief geschreven naar de minister van Justitie, Nelson Navarro (PAIS), om aandacht te
vragen voor ‘de mensonterende detentieomstandigheden’ in de strafgevangenis waaronder zij al geruime tijd gebukt gaan.

NETHERLANDS - Familiebedrijven van de eerste generatie zijn winstgevender dan onder de tweede generatie. Dit blijkt uit internationaal onderzoek op basis waarvan Erasmus Centre for Family Business kortgeleden een rondetafelconferentie heeft belegd met ondernemers.

Arrestatie Curaçaoënaar in Nederland en moordzaak Wiels

WILLEMSTAD – De arrestatie van een 26-jarige Curaçaoënaar zaterdagavond in Zoetermeer zou direct verband houden met de moord op Helmin Wiels afgelopen 5 mei. De man, bekend onder de bijnaam ‘Pretu’, werd gearresteerd na een rechtshulpverzoek vanuit het Openbaar Ministerie (OM) op Curaçao.

Uitspraak in zaak beroepsaansprakelijkheid notaris Curacao

Heden deed de Hoge Raad der Nederlanden uitspraak in de zaak tegen de Spaar- en Beleenbank Curacao (SBC) inzake de beroepsaansprakelijheid en zorgplicht van notaris Henri Burgers op Curacao, waarbij de Hoge Raad het cassatieberoep van de laatste verworpen. Er is sprake geweest van een onrechtmatige daad van de notaris en er heeft onzorgvuldig onderzoek naar de rechtstoestand registergoed in openbare registers plaatsgevonden.

Governor to swear in new ministers today

US Supreme Court limits gene patents in mixed ruling
